According to the American Beverage Association, the database provides information about ingredients, including what they are, what they do, and safety assessments from major food-safety organizations such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), and Health Canada. Relevant assessments from the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives are also included.

The initiative began integrating QR codes into beverage products during the first quarter of 2026. The industry has committed to reaching full or near-full market penetration across beverage portfolios by the end of 2027.
